Modern education is currently undergoing a transformation of teaching methods, shifting from a “teacher-centered” approach to a “learner-centered” one, which has demonstrated certain effectiveness. However, educators are researching an educational model that harmoniously integrates the identification of the teacher or learner as the center at different stages of the training process, aiming to optimize the quality of teaching and learning. To implement “Individualization”, teachers must conduct research on records and assessments to tailor instruction to the common needs of small groups or individual learners. Each learner possesses different and uneven abilities to access content and achieve course learning outcomes. Personalizing in teaching can assist them in developing learner abilities in the most effective manner, thereby contributing to promoting sustainable educational development and ensuring that no one is left behind simply because learner cannot keep pace with the training program. This article presents a case study of Graphic Design training at Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts and proposes solutions for effectively teaching graphic design and developing students' design and creative capacity. By shaping art and design styles based on each learner's identity, the dropout rate due to inability to keep up with the training program can be reduced.

Many studies have shown how multimodal writing experiences affect EFL/ESL students' identity development and agency. Agency for students in English teacher training colleges is crucial for their future professional development and teaching practices at schools. However, how the experience of making a comic strip as an argumentative text affects teacher-student’s agency is underexplored. This study aims to investigate the impact of integrating comic strips in argumentative text writing instruction on the agency of Indonesian teacher students. It used a qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews and document analysis from 25 Indonesian teacher students in an essay writing class at a teacher training program at an Indonesian university. The research findings show that integrating comic strips into argumentative writing positively affects the agency of Indonesian teacher-students. First, the comic strip format helped increase teacher students' engagement and motivation in the argumentative writing process. They felt more entertained and enthusiastic in presenting their arguments. Second, the dialog in the comic strips encouraged students to develop more diverse and critical perspectives in argumentative writing as they needed to create a casual written debate in a story. This process helps them consider different points of view to support their argument. Third, embedding comic strip instruction in writing expands teacher students' creativity in expressing their ideas visually and textually, increasing their sense of agency in learning. This study concludes that integrating comic strips as argumentative text can be an alternative strategy to enhance Indonesian teacher-student agency.

Armenian communities have had a notable historical presence in various regions of China since the 16th century, with particularly thriving settlements in Canton, Macao, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. During the 17th and 18th centuries, Armenians in China occupied influential positions, receiving endorsement from Chinese authorities. Their impact on Chinese society and East-West commerce is evidenced through their active promotion and patronage of Chinese-manufactured visual art objects. Notably, Jesuit preachers seeking unrestricted access to the country adopted Armenian attire as a strategic approach to integrate into the local culture. This academic pursuit represents an interdisciplinary effort to reframe the image of Armenian merchants, encompassing two major phases. The initial stage involves a scholarly examination of the collective image of Armenian merchants within the context of Sino-Armenian cultural and artistic exchanges, employing contextual and comparative analysis. The methodological framework integrates historiography, archival studies, ethnography, design, art history, and the history of costumes. The subsequent phase involves a collaborative effort with art historians, designers, and ethnographers to entirely reimagine the Armenian merchant's characteristic attire, headgear, accessories, and attributes. Drawing from primary sources such as merchant costume drawings from the mid-20th century, engravings and prints by European artists, and a rare and well-preserved 17th-century merchant costume ensemble currently housed in the US, this project aims to significantly contribute to Silk Road studies and deepen the understanding of the intricate history of Sino-Armenian commercial and cultural interconnections. Furthermore, it may serve as an inaugural endeavor of the Armenian merchant costume renaissance for important intercontinental and cross-cultural exhibitions and expositions.
The history of nationalism reveals how women have been viewed as cultural repositories in nation-building processes, resulting in uneven rights for women and men. Assumptions about cultural specificities risk a reluctance to expose political mechanisms that consolidate certain practices under the guise of culture. Swinging the pendulum too far in the direction of cultural diversity and relegating gender to the realm of unspoken culture risks depoliticizing issues of gender equality and freedom. Various conservative actors co-opt critiques of backwardness and victimhood of women in discourses of the glory of “our culture” and how “we treat our women much better than they do in the West”. So how do women in non-Western geographies organize and resist the culturally normalized roles bestowed upon them? In everyday life, ordinary women create spaces for themselves and creatively exercise their agency. It is not always necessary to find personal modernism, freedom from family, tradition, or religion in order to attain agency. In addition to acknowledging the wide range of women's subjectivities in relation to religion and piety, we must also pay attention to the diversity of demands and ideological positions, emphasizing the complexities of women's dilemmas and considering also the activism of women who reject religious frameworks when defining their rights.
